Kitchen Garden & Shiitake Nursery.
From our own soil, from our own logs, to the plate.
Fresh vegetables and herbs, close to the kitchen.
Next to the coach house, the kitchen garden grows. Beans, lettuce, tomatoes, pumpkin, beets, and a wide array of herbs come to life here and go straight to the kitchen.
We work with the seasons, keep the soil covered, and give space to flowers and insects. This way, the garden stays healthy without artificial fertilizers or pesticides.
During sessions, workshops, and stays, you can taste what is growing that season. Surplus is fermented, dried, or preserved for later in the year.

The nursery is coming back to life.
Nursery restart planned for 2027
Landgoed De Meerberg has been known for its shiitake nursery for decades. On oak logs, among the trees, grow the mushrooms that were once the hallmark of this place.
Spacious venue in a natural setting for events, team days, company outings, workshops, training sessions, speakers, music, entertainment, ceremonies, and funerals
In time, there will be tours past the logs, inoculation workshops, and self-harvesting in season.
Part of a larger whole.
The kitchen garden and shiitake nursery do not stand alone. They are part of the permaculture landscape on De Meerberg: food forest, meadows, woods, and quiet spots that together form one living system.
